High Arches

Feet with abnormally high arches is a condition when arches do not get even or tends to flat when loaded during gait. This allows foot to bear most of the body weight on the outside border of the foot and on the metatarsals bones causing discomfort and painful gait. High arches can also have an impact over the knees, hip and lower back due to imbalance lower body ground reaction forces. High arches can develop at any age but usually starts in childhood.

Symptoms

– pain & excessive stress at the ball and heel of the foot after walk or run. Rigid and inflexible instep causing calf to feel stiff
Toes may tend to deform called claw and hammer toes Formation of callous and corn over the ball & heel of the foot High arched foot may develop instability causing ankle sprain
A custom made insole is strongly recommended for high arched feet to relieve stress over loaded part of the foot and to correct foot posture accordingly.
